This sermon series on based in the book of Nehemiah, was preached during lockdown for the Covid-19 crisis in June and July 2020.
The book of Nehemiah tells the story of how in 445 B.C. Nehemiah, a Jewish servant of Persian King Artaxerxes, was moved by the Lord to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the walls of the city. It tells us how God granted him favour with the Persian authorities, the opposition from within the Jewish community, the local inhabitants and surrounding nations. It tells us how Nehemiah, guided by the Lord, overcame that opposition to successfully rebuild the walls and establish the integrity of the city, leading to a recommitment of the people to follow God.
This sermon series looks at the lessons from this book and application of those lessons to us as individuals and a people of faith, as we are faced with the challenge of rebuilding communities damaged by the Covid crisis.
